| Ara ara~~ <8O So life-like and welldrawn, the 3D perspective is excellent, really like the criss-cross pattern of the shading on the matress too~~ and it's better than mine... (tohohoho~~) | |

I'm not really good with perspective and stuff and reality so I always call my stuff abstract haha >.> Anyway Davis is like notorious for flu and I've had one for a week, it's pretty crappy. Planning on going up to Tahoe today, which I tried to get out of but can't now . Show me if you do portraits, we had to do portraits in the one art class I did, people have never been uglier

Show me if you do portraits, we had to do portraits in the one art class I did, people have never been uglier portraits are on the final week i think, still doing objects and i think alot of portraits will be bad since this is a starting class, u cant really do a good portrait without a good understanding of the skull anatomy

| I remember whenever I was drawing portraits I would always feel like the measurements were really off, like too much brain or something - but after you fill in all the other stuff it's like - I guess that's right. Anyway I thought sketching was fun but I gave up . I just like throwing paint at the wall and stuff. | |

| updated, added more to my first post
some are incomplete but.. given the timeframe its what i came up with, too lazy to finish them too
criticism is welcome btw, cant improve unless u take a verbal beating like a man
our class has critiques but we're not allowed to say anything negative, so pointless

| Gotta love those perspective-based bg works. Nuffin wrong there~~ I don't see anything that I could tell you to add, they're works that demand a good grade, no doubt. Guess my brain is so broken that it can't come up with anything "bad" to say to anything or anyone, I could consult my art teachers for you if you want~ <8P Mmm... that leafy background looks so tasty as a backdrop for some manga panels, I'd almost steal it~~ Good critizism has to be realistic, and it is often "negative" to some, because hearing it is uncomfortable. Good critizism should be permitted, such as taking into account the technique employed, the texture, and overrall quality. The topic that the piece of art plays a role too, but it varies. Bitchin' about the topic is the REAL negative thing that you should avoid. Bad critizism is that negative that you might be talking about. Bad ones are like the one I just mentioned, bitchin about it cuz ya don't like it. Sometimes I get comments that my doujin's characters are too slim, or too muscular, too tall, etc. Those are their personal preferences, and have nothing to do with the work itself, ofcourse there are standards about how things should be that it is acceptable. In my case, it has to appeal to people atleast moderately. Drawing a fine line between preferences and standards are vital as an artist, both to yourself and to others. If you can, solve out what kind of critizism your class permits~~ However, it it's just happy go lucky class that just wants to have fun instead of doing some real work, save them, unless they ask for it. | |

| thanks for the feedback sai, and yea i feel ya on the criticism part. when i meant negative criticism though, its more of like errors in technique or lack of that can be used to improve on a piece opinions are always worth hearing, good or bad its just an opinion, its just how you want to interpret it i suppose i pretty much say the same thing about everyones work, vague positive things with words that sound fancy (unless they really do a good job, im a tough critic to please) | |

| Well, then it's something you should help them with then, the question is, will they accept it? Just use the "nice-guy" approach, like pointing out flaws but in a friendly way, such as "I think you could do something about this one, I think the lines are a bit thin over here, it's my own opinion however, don't take it too seriously" ^- The It's-just-my-opinion is a technique to ease people, psychological, just makes it more acceptive for people to listen to, don't forget that your face plays a value too, a stern face is a boot to the head and a big minus to people's mood receivers. Try it out, they might even give a smile back, a smile a day brightens the day, right? Just make sure the conditions are right~ (Such as not having an image of a troll/jerk) <8P The trick is to put yourself to a "henchman"-level, and be supportive and self-downplaying, don't forget the face. Hmm... perhaps I'm not that innocent after all? Fufufu~~ If the teachers don't allow critizism that is vital to some, then they are doin' it wrong~ be sneaky and employ psychological warfare (Nice-guy-tactic) I didn't make it this far without help yaknow, I never picked up the ink pen in fear of causing irreversible mistakes, I never picked up the dot-patterns of real mangas alone either, and neither did I start this whole dream alone either~~ Aaand, I just learnt how to use the two point-perspective (Kahden pakopisteen perspektiivi) thanks to you, give yourself a pat on the back, you've earned it ~~ | |

| wow it's pretty nice. I mean pretty nice as in, I could not draw like that if I tried ... really hard ha. I especially like the sort of flower branches, tree branch one, I'm guessing that's what it is. Is that sketched? It reminds me of the paper cutting art, either way it's pretty awesome. I'm writing briefly because I have to hunt down coffee before they all close down and leave me caffeine deprived . I want to see a portrait whenever you end up doing one. I like to see how people draw other people ha. Anyway, other people should post interesting stuff they do, it always brightens my day to see stuff on the forums ha. Anyway on that note, well not really I went into class today to do this short close-reading essay in Science Fiction, and so I went in, looked at the passage wrote, wrote, wrote - little did I know it was worth 20% of my grade! Two pieces of innocent paper released from my hand to my teacher and he even smiled as if he knew that I had no idea I had just handed in 1/5 of my grade >.> I thought it was like a practice paper, because in other classes we do daily 1-2 page essays just for FUN! well they aren't fun, but that's the teacher's take, they're like worth 1% >.> Anyway sigh. Going to go to my late 8pm discussion then back home to ... Oh wait, I don't eat after 8pm so I'll go back and starve :'(. I started watching this drama, erika toda, taisetsu something something. Ha that's my google mind working, only need 1-2 pieces of information and google will find it for me so I never know the whole title's of anything anymore. I don't know since I watched it raw and during all the good parts where people look into each others' eyes the japanese suddenly gets really difficult and slangish and I'm like WTH, so maybe I'll have to rewatch when it's subbed. But it basically just uses all of Pink's songs for the entire episode ha, which I love ha. coffee >.> I forgot, must go. | |

started on portraits today, drew this dude and a woman from some paper copy handout, the woman didnt come out too well but i didnt have much time; still good practice though, i have never drawn faces before homework is self portrait; i'll post my sexy face too once i finish it - Asa wrote:

Is that sketched? It reminds me of the paper cutting art, either way it's pretty awesome. yea its a tree branch, its a negative space drawing. i basically cut out everything that had a shape or form and filled in the background so all that black is whats behind the branch

drawing faces is so damn difficult Are you trying to go for realism? I sort of like the ... feel it has. the dot dot dots are my lack of art history references. Went to bestbuy to get a new keyboard, everything is so expensive there >.> I got this ergonomic microsoft one so I'm like reteaching myself how to type. I keep missing the period and typing a comma. Anyway, I need to hang out at barnes and nobles more often because I am so behind on skip beat manga since the onemanga site closed down >.> torrenting and stuff is just way too difficult for me with the manga stuff on tokyotosho
