| The normal combination is Spring Cleaning, or even New Years Cleaning, but in the summer there is just a little more free time to clean up. I've been trying to make my apartment naturally cleaner, like saving a bunch of boxes and compartmentalizing or buying a clothes rack thing to hang my clothes up on instead of throwing it on chairs and on the floor. I went to Ikea and bought two small tables and a bookshelf. I have like three closets and a lot of cabinets but somehow it is so cluttered. Is anyone a super neat freak or recently cleaned up really well? I need help. | |

| Seriously, it's so frustrating. At least before I go to sleep I try to get some things done so it doesn't build up :/. | |

Seriously though, if I really did my apartment would be super clean.

| It's not messy! It's called strategical placement of items in randomly sorted order! There's no need to clean up what's already organized and conveniently located. =P
Jokes aside, cleaning up shouldn't be done only when hell freezes over. It should be about daily "maintenances". Like folding your clothes when you change out of them; putting files and documents into trays, folders and cabinets; shelving your CDs and DVDs into disk racks sorted by artist/genre/title/release date/etc; shelving books in alphabetical order; etc. etc. Most of these things take little time when you put them away properly after you're done with them. It'll save you time from doing major clean ups and makes it easier to find things. Then again, I'm pretty sure we've all heard about this a million times 1000 years ago in pre-school when the teacher pokes us to clean up after ourselves when we're done playing.
Long story short, do it daily and save yourself the trouble!
( Sorry if this sounded like a lecture =[ )

| Thanks, Sensei Yuki Asa, I actually do follow that rule. I make it a joke sometimes when people come in and put something on the floor in my room. I would take it and throw it in the trash. Funny joke? I agree. The only reason I'm so adamant about this is because my parents are pack rats. My parents' house is so cluttered with random bs that it pisses me off. I hated how they run out of room in the house, they would start putting them in my room. When they found out I started throwing everything in my room that is not mine outside into the hallway or in the trash, they stopped putting crap in it. | |

| I'm so sad ha. I came back to my computer and someone had put up websites on how to stop having packrat-itis. And threw away all the cardboard boxes I had been saving . What if I need those I bought this black and decker like twenty dollar small vacuum and it's pretty nice, so I don't have to bring my vacuum around when I want to tidy up. But ya, I'm not so good at the small daily stuff though I'll try. yuki seems like some life guru . Has all the healthy stuff in check | |

| Like Yuki said, make it a routine for yourself. Everyones room gets messy, its like grass that grows back no matter what, its like those unsorted wires behind your PC, look for yourself <8D, remember the last time you unplugged everything to clean etc.
Although, keeping your room messy isn't a bad thing, you still know where they are when you need them XD, hell breaks loose once SOMEONE ELSE comes in to clean it. You just have to make it a routine, BUT "enjoyable". Many people who were forced to clean just to become better when living alone end up messy anyway, on the other hand people who lived messily start living the other way around. Clean in it your own way, don't force yourself, remember the computer? I found my solution, I strap everything into one neat "wire" with strings for example.
My tip is: Do it your way that fits the norms of being Clean, but at the same time NOT stress yourself doing so.

| Horo should totally give Kana your address and let him clean up for $1.00, that is such a good deal. Who cares if he's going to be creepy crawling through your stuff, and possibly your underwear drawer. | |
