Apparently the Canadian government believes that having a single corporation control and monopolize the entire network for the country is beneficial to all. It even passed the corporation's request to start a usage-based billing scheme -- so the more you use, the more you pay,... but at unreasonable prices. Price ranges from $30-70 / month for 10-70 GB of data transfer (both up and down stream ) and $1-2 /GB over arbitrary cap.
